Throughout the years movements  formed, which led to protests. The people wanted rights and to not be discriminated just because of their race. It's a huge mark in history. African Americans were never considered equal, therefore they formed these movements.
-The civil rights act had a long term effect on the country.
2. -Africans used sit ins, freedom rides and protest marches to fight segregation, poverty and unemployment.
-Feminist demanded equal job opportunities and an end to sexual discrimination.
-Mexican Americans protested discrimination in voting, education and employment.
-Native Americans demanded that the government   recognize their land claims and their right of tribes to govern themselves.

It really makes me sad that these people had no rights. To live in a world where people would discriminate you because of your color. Africans wanted freedom and equality, they participated in protests and freedom rides.
3.
- Martin Luther King was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia.
-First achieved national renown when he helped the black boycott of the Montgomery bus system in 1955.
-1957. King was active in an organization of the Southern Leadership Christian Conference, formed to coordinate protest discrimination.
-In 1963 King led mass protests against discriminatory practices.
-King was arrested and jailed for his part in the protests.
-1963. King participated in the  enormous civil rights march, and delivered his famous 'I have a dream' speech, predicting a day when the promise of freedom and equality for all would become reality in America.
-1964 He won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Martin Luther king was important because of his will to help fight against discrimination. He spoke for the people and loved the people. He wanted freedom. He had a dream. He promised that one day they would all live in a world with freedom and equality.
