Homelessness.


·      -Students and teachers from UCLA are helping homeless on the streets of L.A. every week.
·      -USICH (United States Interagency Council on Homelessness)- This agency provides government aid for all homeless people in the U.S. They offer programs.
·     - The city of Santa Barbara created a program to take care of homeless people and it’s going to cost more than one million. -They will work with Casa Esperanza and Transition house. There are one thousand and forty homeless people in SB, and seventy percent are men.
·      -Fifty seven percent of homeless people in SB have mental illness and seventy seven percent have been in jail.
·      -Anywhere from seven hundred thousand to two million people are homeless according to estimates of the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty.
·     - The homeless population is about fifty percent African American, thirty five percent white, twelve percent Hispanic, two percent Native American and one percent Asian.
·      -Sixty Six percent of the homeless have problems with alcohol, drug abuse, or mental illness.
·      -Twenty two percent have been physically assaulted.
·      -Seven percent has been sexually assaulted.
·      -Thirty eight percent say someone stole money or things directly from them.
-Thirty percent have been homeless for more than two years.
